24hrs in Seville

OH SEVILLE! You broke my heart with all your beauty. First thing first shout out to our Airbnb host 1. your apartment was gorgeous! 2. thank you for setting us up and suggesting the flamenco show that we saw, for the history lessons, for caring all our luggage and for always being available for our questions.

Safe to say I loved Seville we almost didn’t leave to Madrid because we wanted to stay longer! EVERYTHING about it was incredible not to mention we found our way fairly quickly, which made us feel right at home. Everything was at our fingertips (I am sorry not sure exactly where we stayed but click on the link to get an idea). We arrived to Seville bright and early, since we were short on time, we headed out to explore walked around to check out shops, churches, places to eat, etc. My memory is a little hazy about the timeline but it happened at some point!

LOVED Alcazar my god that place and all its intricate detail. Moorish design is my absolute favorite I love everything about it, yes Granada is still on my to do list. I literally sat in a nook around the courtyard to just wrap my head around this place.

SO about that flamenco show…my sister is obsessed with Anthony Bourdain with that said his flamenco experience was something that we wanted to have. A small setting, intimate, full of story telling, thanks to our host that is exactly what we got. Seville has some of the must see flamenco dances in Spain and it did NOT disappoint. After our show we stopped by for some ice cream, sat by the steps of the church and took a breather whilst having dessert before dinner of course.

Barcelona – Spain

HELLO! 2016 has been wild and we still have 6 months to go. In  May we (my sister Karen, our cousin Sam, and my sister’s friend Jeannette) jetted off to Europe we started in Barcelona, TAPAS, TAPAS, TAPAS!! I usually google till my little chubby fingers are tired but, I did no such thing this time around. I was extremely excited to be traveling period and just wanted to “wing it”.

I think the most memorable thing about this trip was our bonding experience, we laughed SO much to me that was a beauty within itself. Not to diminish all the beauty we encountered or culture it was all there, just not afraid to pick favorites is all.

One thing we started doing during our trip was “3 things you are grateful for about this trip” I think we all realized the importance of how humbling our trip actually was.. My dad always encouraged us to travel if we could. Traveling was never my thing and I have said this before, it is one of those loves that I didn’t expect and I am obsessed with wanting to see the world and all it’s wonders that it has to offer.

ANYWAYS, enough of that! In Barcelona we stayed a block away from Sagrada Familia, FUCK! that place is ridiculous and overwhelming, the amount of detail that is going into it.. jaw dropping. The only reason I gave up on planning out Barcelona was because everything I wanted to do was too far or would take too long, it felt upsetting so winging it seemed like the best choice. I would love to go back and do everything I really wanted to do.

My favorite part about Barcelona was Gothic Quarter! We pretty much found it by luck we weren’t exactly sure where we were going and the next thing you know there we were. There was this ice cream shop that I fell in love with, everything about it’s location and the style was perfection. Another favorite moment was this man and his bubbles!! This is the most genuine moment I’ve experienced in my life (that statement may or may not be an exaggeration but fuck it.) It really made us stop an just enjoy that moment, watching him and the people and kids smiling something so simple made strangers happy.

Hawaii – Guatemala

One of the last things we did in Guatemala was a beach trip!! We didn’t spend that much time at my grandmas because we were always out doing things.. We also planned it that way because nothing scares me more than my grandmas. I will add pictures of her kitchen and the town, my parents both come from Nueva Santa Rosa (they’re not related i’ve asked and they asked their parents before they started dating…)

So here is the thing about my grandmas… her home is very open and there are HUGE spiders and what not, i love the silence and cold showers don’t get me wrong i can rough it out. But there are so many ghost stories that don’t sit well with me and terrify me. With that said the first night I did not sleep and almost caused myself a massive anxiety attack because that’s how my mind rolls.

We spent the last full day at the beach HAWAII in Guatemala WHAT? Seriously it was called Hawaii. We left my grams at like 5am and got to the beach around 9. Not before taking a fucking tiny little canoe with our van on it..we live life on the edge because that shit did not seem safe. Half way my dad was like oh there are piranhas here, so that happened.

We made it to the beach safely and I spent the whole day in the water (minus lunch time) the water was just so warm and clear, the waves weren’t knocking me down for a change. This was by far the best way to start 2016, there was something about that day that made the whole trip extra magical. Sometimes we get so caught up with life and take the little simplest moments for granted.

Without further ado.. here are the images!

(This is my grams stove from like the 1950s which is still being used)

Canal de Chiquimulilla

Can you tell I become obsessive? Also hey distraction

Guatemala – Dos

Here we go again. After Pana we headed to Antigua to spend New Years !!!! We checked into our hotel room and my mother and I went for a walk around the town. I couldn’t contain myself and had to get out and stay out as long as possible. I LOVE ANTIGUA! i love everything about it the people, the vibes, the cobblestone, the ruins! This has always been my favorite part about my trips to Guatemala. After our walk  I cleaned myself up and we had a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant then headed out to town.

Antigua, man oh man my new years eve will never be the same after this. EVERYONE gets together parties in the streets marimba playing, the good bye ceremony the grapes for good luck, dancing, fireworks and more fireworks. Just amazing. At midnight the fireworks go off and pretty much don’t stop till mid day!

New years day my sister and I woke up early to walk around take pictures while everyone was still sleeping.. I never sleep during trips it might be the adrenaline it just doesn’t work out for me. After breakfast I did some serious shopping (insert overly excited emoji here)

I’m really grateful for my parents love for their country and my aunt, they always teach us about the history. I think that is also the beauty of it all.

Please enjoy the images, I enjoyed photographing beautiful Antigua.

Guatemala – Uno

Cheers to the New Year! Been all over the place with my blog, but will try to maintain some sort of routine this year.

First up was Lake Atitlan, it was my first time here and as you can see was obsessed with the views. Our view from our hotel was this 5 min walk to the water, it was amazing. I am so going back to hike one of those damn volcanoes.. that is officially on my to do list. We didn’t have enough time this time around, but it will be done.

Enjoy the same view just different angles.

Maui WEST!

I’ve been absolutely horrible when it comes to updating my blog.. BUT ladies and gents Maui West aka the time my sister and I almost died #dramatic

Just like any trip I researched things to do must sees etc. I found a blowhole that was near our resort and decided to give a go. We started driving west and driving and didn’t see signs or actually knew where we were going for that matter. We stopped at a couple view points and kept driving.. At some point we decided we were just taking the scenic route and not bothering looking for the blowhole or beaches.

So about that “research” clearly it wasn’t that well since we ended up in a one way cliff to sum it up..We didn’t die obvs but did experience a traffic jam when a car was coming from the other direction and had to be guided by a local. There were 3 cars in front of us, which worked in our favor my sisters nervous wouldn’t have been able to handle all of that. Just imagine a little car on the side of a cliff… that’s exactly what happened to the car coming in the opposite direction. Maui West was stunning from every angle also extremely dangerous.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Perspective.

Maui Part One.

I WENT TO MAUI! My sister the reason why I travel! decided she wanted to go to Maui so we went! One of the best birthdays ever! I’ll leave my awesome story telling skills for Snorkeling && West Maui.

SNORKELING!!! So as some people know I can’t swim at all (actually I can but NOT) I’ve never been snorkeling, I sorta tried it when we went to Oahu last year but it didn’t exactly work out blah blah blah. We took a tour  it was pretty amazing Molokini Crater is pretty fucking awesome (I was given a noodle HEYYY didn’t drown) such an amazing experience..wait for the GOOD PART it is coming! Someone went off to the danger zone where apparently sharks hang out no big deal at all… and we had to go rescue them because the current was starting to get stronger and that person got stranded nothing like a little drama to spice things up. So below are the pictures of that and by that I mean snorkeling not the rescue…:

Zion – Emerald Pools

From the beginning now! We left Los Angeles at 3-4am to do good time…adrenaline that’s what kept us going and tons of coffee. We arrived to Zion at around 1pm we had to figure out how everything worked and shuttles all that lovely stuff, also a HUGE rock had fallen and was blocking one of the hikes I wanted to do so that was a bummer but whatever still want to go back and do Angels landing. Rambling I ramble.. Anyways zion was extremely hot that day 90s hot which we knew and we knew that Bryce would be much cooler so we were well prepared. We hiked to the emerald pools (see pictures below) which was a 3.5 mile hike or so, that was a nice hike to get our feet wet it had its share of good shade which was much appreciated. We weren’t sure where we were going exactly we just went and thankfully didn’t get lost, always a plus. When we arrived to the upper pools it felt like a little oasis  we were surrounded by trees, rocks and grand cliffs. After this we had lunch then headed to weeping rock which I will get to on the next post 😁.

enjoy!
